Course Information:

TJ Prep class: Sunday: 8:30 AM– 11:30 AM

Class size: limited to 10 students.

This class is designed for 8th graders who are planning to take the TJ admission test in December. The class covers reading and science by using the ACT Aspire, and Math (Quant Q), Preparation of the Student Information Sheet, and Math. Students will take 5 full length, timed TJ tests that schedules separates from the class time. This class guides students toward a total success approach where we guide students on every facet of TJ admission including what extracurricular activities to take, how to screen teachers to insure that students get the best recommendations possible, and other important strategies. This class is best for those students who already had TJ prep classes in summer and comfortable with the basic concepts, but are interested in putting them into practice on an actual exam. (Schedule: 8:30AM – 9:30 AM (ACT Aspire Reading); 9:30AM – 10:30 AM (ACT Aspire science); 10:30AM – 11:30 AM (Math- Quant Q) Sunday: Total 10 sessions: 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, and 11/12; 6 full length mock tests included at 6:00- 8:00 PM on Saturday (9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, and 10/11).

We already built an outstanding TJ prep teachers team:

  • Science – it will be taught by FCPS 8th grade science teacher who has more than 15 year experience and also science curriculum designer and department Chairperson. FCPS Middle School Instructional coach and teacher coach.
  • Reading – Mr. G has high school English teacher. He has more than 10 years ACT and SAT prep experiences. He will focus on ACT aspire reading for TJ prep.
  • Math – Mr. L has been teaching teach math competition, SAT math, TJ prep and ACT math for more than10 years’ experience. He already shows his successful teaching mothed for all type math test prep. Elite math group already created a series of math (Q) booklet for TJ math prep based on New TJ test designation.

(This year's test will be administered on Saturday, November 17, 2018, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 12:00 noon.)

SAT Class: Sunday 9:30 – 12:30, Instructor: Mr. G who has more than 10 year’s experiences in SAT and ACT prep with successful approval cases. Class size: 10 students. This class is designed for students who are planning to take SAT in middle school for qualifying CTY program and other colleges’ enrichment program as well as to achieve high SAT scores in grade 7 and 8. This class focuses on helping students build a solid foundation in four vital language areas and covers multiple levels of vocabulary, critical reading strategies, sentence completions, grammar/composition, and essay writing skills. (Schedule for SAT class: 9:30AM – 10:30 PM (Math); 10:30AM – 12:30 PM (Reading & Writing) Sunday: Total 11 sessions: 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, and 11/12; 4 full length mock tests included at 6:00- 8:00 PM on Saturday (9/29, 10/13, 10/20, and 10/11).

SAT/PSAT Prep: This class is designed for 11th graders who will take PSAT in October to achieve National Merit Scholar Qualifying Scores. The class trains student’s strategies of how to fast and correctly answer the questions in the English sections in ACT and new format PSAT. These strategies are hardly addressed in a systematic manner either in middle school or in high school. It covers four areas: 1. Critical reading, 2. Vocabulary, 3. Grammar, and 4. Essay writing. Both courses include 3 full length tests that schedule at time beside of class time.

CogAT Prep: A small group class to the students who need additional reviews for CogAT test preparation. This class aims to help those students who are already had CogAT prep classes in summer and comfortable with the basic concepts, but need putting them into practice on an actual exam. This class processes with several sets of sample test, and review by going through these tests. : (Total 6 sessions: 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16; 4 full length mock tests included: 6:00- 8:30 PM, Saturday (9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14).

IAAT (IOWA test) Prep class: Sunday 11:30 – 1:00, Instructor: Mr. Lee. Class size: limited to 10 students. This course focuses on helping 6th graders to do well in the Iowa Algebra Test (IAAT). FCPS conducts IAAT and 7th grade SOL to decide if a 6th grader is legible for Algebra 1 in 7th grade. 6th graders of FCPS will take this test in January 2018. Students must score above 91% tile on IAAT and pass advanced on the 7th grade SOL to qualify for Algebra 1 in 7th grade. The class is taught by Tony Lee. Tony has taught IAAT prep class for 3 years. All our students have passed the IOWA test; more than 95% of the students passed in the high 99 percent tile on IAAT. Students will take at least 3 full length mock tests. The course is taught by Tony Lee. He is well known as a math teacher.

4th grade Reading/Writing: Sunday 10:30 – 12:30 PM, Instructor: Ms. Reid, Class size: 8 students. This 4th Grade English class is a wonderful opportunity to enrich reading and writing skills required for academic excellence. This comprehensive course is offered over the academic years and designed to enable 5th graders to be 2 grade levels ahead of the state requirements, and develop a strong foundation in vocabulary, reading, and writing to do better in all the subjects at school. It covers multiple levels of vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, and different types of writing skills.

5th grade Reading/Writing: Sunday 10:30 – 12:30, Instructor: Mrs. R, Class size: 8 students. This 5th Grade English class is a wonderful opportunity to enrich reading and writing skills required for academic excellence. This comprehensive course is offered over the academic years and designed to enable 5th graders to be 2 grade levels ahead of the state requirements, and develop a strong foundation in vocabulary, reading, and writing to do better in all the subjects at school. It covers multiple levels of vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, and different types of writing skills.

6th grade Reading/Writing: Sunday 8:30 – 10:30, Instructor: Mrs. M, Class size: 8 students. This is long term program to build a solid foundation in critical reading and writing. During each session, teachers will review the concepts topic. Students are also given homework assignments to build on the topics discussed in the classroom. Timed quizzes are conducted on the topics discussed in the class to measure the students’ grasp of the concepts. This course is designed to target 2 grade levels above and help 6th graders to qualify for the CTY programs as well as beginning their SAT preparation early and improve their scores.

Registration: Classes are filled on a first come, first serve.

  3. Payment is not collected at time of registration. Your space in class is not guaranteed until your Registration form and tuition has been received and processed. Please print registration form and make tuition payment to ELC Registration Office that is indicated on the bottom of the registration form.
Math Contest Training (MCT) Program
MCT program offers an extensive training to students from Grade 5 to middle school who
  • have demonstrated intellectual curiosity in math;
  • wish to learn in a systematic and competitive environment;
  • are eager to explore their potentials and widen their visions;

Students will be able to excel in math by the best problem solver training, and arouse their math inspiration into college and beyond.
